At around 3 p.m. on December 31st, 2012, the Port Washington Fire Department responded to a working house fire in the Village of Sands Point.

The Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department provided mutual aid to the scene with a F.A.S.T. team and ambulance. The Roslyn Highlands Fire Company and the Plandome Fire Department provided standby coverage for Port Washington during the incident.
