At 08:56 on September 4th, 2011 the PWFD was toned out for a General Alarm, Basement Fire, on Warwick Place in Port Washington. Chief Cole (8500) arrived advising smoke was showing from the building. The alarm was upgraded to a SIGNAL 10 (working structure fire) at 09:11. Engine 8511 from Protection Engine Co. #1 was first due followed by Engine 855 from Flower Hill Hose Co. #1. The two engine crews worked quickly together to locate and knock down the fire.

The Manhassset-Lakeville Fire Department provided mutual aid to the scene setting up a tower ladder. (8724, 8713, 8702, 8703)

The Great Neck Vigilant Fire Company, Plandome Fire Department, Roslyn Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. #1, and Roslyn Highlands Fire Department provided standby fire units.

The Williston Park Fire Department and Glenwood Fire Company provided standby EMS units.

This was the fourth working structural in less than five days located inside the Port Washington Fire District. A sincere thank you goes out from the PWFD to all the neighboring departments who have continued to provide mutual aid response.
