Memorial Day 2012

The Port Washington Fire Department was proud to be a part of this year’s Memorial Day Parade; a special occasion to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to our great nation.

Each year all four companies of the PWFD gather early on Memorial Day at Nassau Knowles Cemetary. The Department Chaplain leads a service to remember all those who have fallen in the line of duty. Following the service the Department marches as one to join the rest of Port Washington in the Memorial Day parade.

This year the PWFD was honored to have an active duty service member march with the Department’s color guard. Peter Kowlaski, a United States Navy Sailor, can be seen marching in the center of the color guard. He has been a member of Fire Medic Company #1 since 2009 and currently serves as a Corpsman with the Navy. The Port Washington Fire Department is greatful for his service and values the medical skills he brings back from the military.
