Early Morning SUV vs Tree

At 00:09 on the 28th of October the Port Washington Fire Department was toned out for an auto accident in the Village of Sands Point. A driver had lost control of their vehicle and collided with a tree on the side of the road. The driver suffered minor injuries with no other vehicles involved.

Of note was that the vehicle was a hybrid. With high voltage battery packs hybrid vehicles present new hazards to first responders. Keeping current with new technologies is extremely important in order to effectively deal with new challenges such as hybrid vehicles.  Through continuous education, training, and preparation  the Port Washington Fire Department stands ready to protect the citizens and property of the Port Washington Fire District.
